    Hi,
this may be a silly question, I have created 4 MPEG2 files after editing. I want to join them, I used to use TMPGenc until the trial period expired.

Is there any other (free) software that I can use to join MPEG2 files, or am I stuck having to pay for software??

I have found software that joins MPEG's, but I'm not sure if these programs will encode the files to MPEG1 and I don't want that... I need to just join as they are with no quality drop.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

TMPGEnc should join without problem, even after expiry.

    Maybe mpgtx

TMPGEnc can join files, provided the files have the same bitrate, etc. Otherwise it kicks out an error.

Sorry guys, I thought TMPGenc doesn't touch MPEG2 files after expiration of the trial period??

Well, it might accept them, but it will encode to MPEG1.

    Am I wrong??

Yes, you're wrong. Using the Mpeg Tools in TMPGEnc enables you to cut/join mpegs without any encoding at all.
