  1. I've downloaded some quicktime trailers I wanna make mpegs of.
They all got different sizes ofcourse.
The thing is, if I encode them as 480x576 (PAL/25FPS) I get bad AR on some of them.
How do I do to keep it good, to just dynamicly add black top/bottom to keep the AR good?
    Any help would be appreciated.

  2. I forgot to mention that I am using TMPGEnc with Quicktime reader plugin.
I know about the crop function but that's not what I wanna do, I wanna addbordes somehow within tmpgenc. Anyone?

  3. I also tried encoding mpeg2 from wmw, getting the file down with GraphEdit and the avimux->write file filter.. But the avi always comes out playing on half speed except sound. So sounds stops after half the file.
Any thoughts? I solved the DAR thingie with tmpg btw.

  4. If you encode your mpeg to SVCD specs it will look tall and stretched in some players. Play the file in DVD player software such as windvd or powerdvd and it should correct the aspect ratio automatically.

In tmpgenc, just set the video to "Full Screen (Keep Aspect Ratio)" under [Setting / Advanced / Video Arrange Method]. This will proportionately adjust the frame size until one dimension (the width in this case) spans the desired final size and there should be the regular letterbox bars at top and bottom.
