when I convert a xvid/divx to svcd the music is too loud and the speech is too low.
I always convert the mp3 to wav (44.1 Hz) with virtualdub and then convert to svcd with tmpgenc.
Its really getting on my nerves cuz the neighbor is always complaining about the volume.
Is there a solution?maybe convert the audio in 48Hz wav?

normalize it
the wav is an extra step, you are going MP3->Wav->MP2, why not go MP3->MP2Ejoc's CVD Page:

i never go mp3->wav->mp2, I always convert mp3 to wav
Then load the original avi and the wav file (44.1) to tmpgenc and check system. works perfectly fine except when played on dvd, the action is way louder than the speech.
I am trying Wav normalize right now and will load the changed wav to tmpgenc. Do you think that the music will be on the same level as the speech when played on dvd player?
Never tried to convert to mp2.will the results be better than wav when converting to svcd?how do i then use tmpgenc when having an mp2 file?do i have to multiplex? -
SVCD audio is MP2, when you feed the wav to TMPGEnc it converts it to MPEG-1 Layer-2 ie MP2, so you are going MP3->Wav->MP2

Does TMPGEnc leave valid audio alone? ie when you use besweet to convert the audio and then used the created MP2 audio as your audio source, will it just multiplex it with the video and produce the .mpg or will it convert it again?
I know TDA will leave valid audio/video alone so I wasnt sure if it was true with TMPGEnc too.Ejoc's CVD Page:

good question
I'm curious bout it myself?
what about boostin my wav file instead of normalizin it. Will it have any changes in the sound when the svcd is played on my player?
or isthe normalization a better option in order to get the speech at the same volume as the action?
