  1. Hi guys
I have a big problem with tmpgenc. I have been using this program to convert files to dvd for ages now and feel i know how to use the program quite well, but this has stumped me totally.
I have a 2 file movie, the movie is encoded in xvid, i exctract the audio from it (ac3) with virtual dub, but then when i go to load the avi (either cd 1 or 2) into tmpgenc the program comes up with a runtime error and crash's. It's not the first time this has happened and i think the other film i was trying to do was also ac3 audio and xvid.
Does anyone know what i can do? i have already put the direct show to 1 in EV. and have the program running for windows xp.
it's really baffling me, i've also converted the movie file from xvid into divx and it makes no difference.
Any help would be appreciated guys
    thanks alot.

  2. Go into virtualDub, load your AVI.

Go to File-> Save Striped AVI.

Then try loading the new AVI in TMPGEnc.

If that fails, try File-> Save Old Format AVI.

On my setup I had to put direct show to 4 for it to finally stop crashing!

Use VirtualDub to frameserve to TMPGEnc. Will take longer to encode but works

What EV settings have you got - mine are below work with both Xvid and Divx for me.

Also TMPGEnc don't take ac3 audio files (I think)
Save audio as wav in Vdub then run it through AC3fix GUI (if u want 2 keep ac3 audio) or convert to wav with Ciler's Ac3Tool,
Use TMPGEnc - just do ES (video only) then feed both files to your authoring prog (I use TMPGEnc DVD Author)

  8. try to put the "AVI2(OpenDML) File Reader" on priority 5.
you might get an error when the encoding is finished,
    just ignore it.
HELL AINT A BAD PLACE TO BE
