  1. I encode DVD's to SVCD using DVD2AVI and TMPGEnc. It seems like one out of 7 or 8 have motion stutter, even though I use the same settings for all DVD's I do. Why do most come out ok while others have motion trouble even though I use the same settings? For the DVD's that have motion trouble I re encode them to VCD, this usually fixes the motion trouble even though I would rather do them as SVCD's. Anyway to fix the motion problems and still do them as SVCD's?

  2. i suggest using flask to encode to divx avi, then tmpegenc to encode to mpeg. i've never used dvd2avi myself but if your source is 23.97 and you encode your avi as 29.97, the avi will appear normal, but will look jerky as a (s)vcd. try it and let me know how it works.

  3. is the stutter most prevalant during horizontal panning shots? if so this would indicate either field order problems or a poor quality transfer source. this is especially noticable in straight laserdisc to dvd transfers. playback on a decoder with superior filters will alleviate the problem. powerdvd v2.55 and my standalone apex clone stutter like hell, but the new windvd v3.0 is remarkably smooth
