Nero 5.551 problem

I have been running XP Pro for 3 weeks with NO problems. have a DVD player and a Yamaha CDRW. Have burned 20+ CDs with NO problems.

Til today, I have been using the XP's burner. I downloaded Nero & installed it. When rebooted after the install, I cannot see the DVD ROM or the CD burner. If I go under device properties, it says the registery is corrupt or something equivalent.

I did a system restore and everything is back to normal. I reinstalled Nero but this time I didnt reboot. I can see the drives. After I reboot, the DVD & CD R/W are gone.

I am going to try an earlier version of Nero as I really like the proggie.


Also, if u have any worthwhile insight in resolving this issue, pls do share (pls dont make comments like dont use Nero etc).

I have the EXACT same problem. Would like to use Nero, but not if it trashes my system!!
Anyone heard about a solution?
(BTW, did going to an earlier version solve the problem?)
