  1. Ok, heres the deal, anytime I convert an avi, mpg or whatever to dvd, no matter what the sound source was, I can only get 2 channel audio... BUT! when I play it on anyone elses set up, it will play in surround (if the source was surround) or 'false' surround (you know the center plays and so do the fronts and rears but they arent mixed well....)

I think its my dolby amp but who knows...Actually it comes to mind that when I play those converted movies (avi to dvd) it reads MPEG on my audio reciever and it cuts in and out until I change the audio setting to 2 channel...I even have a live radiohead dvd that was captured and converted and It does the same thing! and the people that play it say it sounds GREAT on their systems! I am annoyed so I was wondering if anyone has this problem, if there is a way to fix this on my reciever (hack or something) or whatever knowledge you might have that may help me out...

The system is a Sony DDWHT-740. (or a number similar to that)
