Ok so after having such good results with the Matrix media I ordered a 50 pack from them. But what arrived has the Longten code.

I Have no idea why they send out 2 different codes for the media and this worries me. We have only burned one so far, and it turned out ok, but I'll keep everyone posted.

Figured I'd leave an FYI, finally got a chance to check these disc out, they are fine, had the top one not work and since then things have been fine.

I would have sent the suckers back before burning. They said they were going to refund my money for some Silver inkjet printable Ritek CDs that arrived as something else. The last contact with them was on Monday, and they said the credit should appear in a few days. I checked my account, and there was no credit. These guys are scum ! We need to DoS them off of the face of the Earth ! Absolute thieves ! Time to update my signature and go find some tools from the web!

  3. @ Flaystus...you purchased these from shop4tech? If so..the disks are worthless.....so worthless that I scraped up ALL the HQ media and LONG..TEN media disks I had....which I didn't even realize was about 65....I got a sample I forgot about a while back from Meritline..they were HQ disks..anyway....total disks were about 65.

I looked at them for a second....and said....GOODBYE....threw them right in the dumpster...no bullshit....about ~65 or so disks......that's how shitty they are.....I'd send those disks back immediately and get a refund. You should notice triple high Kprobe results for the disks with the LONG...TEN id vs. the NON LONG TEN id.....sucks that you got the shit Grade D disks man.

I'm so pissed off about DVD media right this moment, that if it's not RITEK or MAXELL, I'm not wasting my time or money. Zero tolerance right now. This happened with CD media some years back.

At first CD-R was all good, then all crap, then now it's about 50-50.

I'll wait for the 50-50 phase, thanks.

I posted on this a while back....great quality media today doesn't mean that it will be great tomorrow...it's unfortunate..but it's true. I've seen it many times first hand. I now only use high quality media...Ritek, Optodisc, Ricoh, TDK and Maxell. Any of those five and you can't go wrong. The Optos are just as compatible as any other Metal Azo dyed disk..anyone says they aren't is more full of shit then Jabba the Hut. Of course...the dye splotches aren't a nice addition to the disks....fortunately for me....I've only had a bad one occasionally..here and there.

It's like Shop4tech has their Long Ten Matrix DVDs and their non-Long Ten ones all mixed together in the same bins in their warehouse, and you never know what you're going to get.
When they first sent me samples of the "New batch" of Matrix DVD-R disks, the were Long Ten.
Thanks to some intervention by defense, they then sent me a pack of good ones, which had an absolutely blank Manufacturer ID, but at least they were good.
I have hestitated ordering any of these from them, because I fear that I will have a 50-50 chance or more of getting LongTen disks.
They have also sent me a stack of their new Matrix 4X +R disks, which have a Manfacturer code of "Media ID001". They don't test as well as the -Rs did using Nero CDSPeed. I don't know what you might get if you order these.

Well so far these disc have worked as well as the other code, but I'd still like to know why we get 2 different codes from them.

Apparently the quality of ALL the Matrix disks NOW being produced are of very good quality. I have some of the newest formula disks with "BOTH" the long..ten code and without the long..ten code arriving today sometime via UPS. There's a reason why they are using "both" codes....i'll explain when I get a chance to test both of them later on tonight.

Please do. The only logical reason I can think of is if the non coded ones are sort of a "test batch" with the Longten code being the offical live code. If so then I would have hoped they would have explained it by now but... you never know.

  10. I've tested a couple of the disks thus far..but i'll wait until further testing before I post the results. The NON-LONG..TEN media id Matrix disks have a media id of "JIYHAN." So this is yet another media id that i'll add to the media id section. Both disks now have an etching in the write side inner hub of "DVD-R" as opposed to the IFP. I'm trying to vigorously test to see if there is ANY difference between the newest long..ten disks and the "JIYHAN" disks.

The complete media id is actually:

    00000000 00 6A 00 00 01 40 C1 FD 9E D8 52 00 02 87 0E 15 .j...@....R.....
    00000010 98 9A 90 00 03 59 69 20 4A 68 61 00 04 6E 20 30 .....Yi Jha..n 0
    00000020 30 31 00 00 05 CC C0 00 00 00 01 00 06 0B 10 11 01..............

I should have a good idea later today on whether there is any quality difference between the two media ids.
