Optorite says the DVD read speed is 12X. The best I get is 4.4X. I'm wondering what other Optorite owners are getting.

The 12x is only rated for reading single-layer DVD-ROM discs in the end, while the 4X CLV is rated for reading all DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, and DVD-Video (with CSS) discs. I normally don't use the burner to read the DVD discs, but since my Lite-On LTD-163 cannot read the DVD-R discs burned by the DD0203, I did observe that the DD0203 can only read most DVD discs at 4X. If you prefer a faster performance, don't use the burner as a reader, get a Lite-On XJ-HD166S for that purpose.

4.1x is the highest I've seen on mine.I have a bad feeling Optorite is not going to release anymore firmware upgrades for the DD0203.
