  1. Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone could tell me how to burn a AVI file to a VCD.
I use Nero 6, or do I need additional software.

    Thanks

First, convert the AVI file to VCD MPEG-1: Click here.

Then, author it to a VCD: Click here.
    Hello.

  3. thanks.

The file is only 672mb but when I add it to Nero VCD creator is says the file size is above 700MB. Is there anything i can do about this?

If not, is there a program that will allow me to split the file up to put on two cd's.

    Thanks again

Typical 80 min CD's will hold 800 MB when burned as a VCD.

Don't encode with Nero, only use it for burning to disk. I suggest TMPGEnc.

If it's too large, you could always lower the bitrate to make it fit on one cd(of course that would me lower quality)...I agree w/ zippy, use tmpgenc. It lets you lower the bitrate or if you want to split up the file, after encoding, you can cut it.

  7. or keep the best bitrate and use tmpgenc afterwards to split the vid in two using file open mpeg tools set source and end and save. do this twice for each section of the vid. Make sure you have enough space and dont overwrite your source file

  8. Hi, me again. Just encoded the movie into two fairly small (400MB each) MPEG files. However the quality has been reuced terriably. Is there a way to improve quality of a VCD.

Should I try usng Roxio Easy CD/DVD creator's dvd creator?

    thanks

Um, quality in relation to what? If you only have a CD burner, you could go with a CVD or SVCD...

Is the original source good? After you encode the original file, whats the filesize(without lowering the bitrate)? If you dont want to lose any quality and you can spare two CDs, you could split them up on two different cds...I think 800 MB per CD should be good enough. Like the previous poster said, you could also try svcd or cvd.

According to this, it will only play a few cdrs. Try different media until you find the right one.

BTW, VCD means factory compressed, not home burnt...even though they wont play on your standalone, it should still play on your computer with something like windvd or powerdvd. Hope that helps.

EDIT: I just read some reviews of your player and apparently the following work on your player...

    Vivastar white CDs

    Princo 80 Minute Silver/LiteBlue CDR

    Only Cd-r of PRINCO work's
    Try burning to these media.
