Does anyone know of any software (pay or free) that can divide a large .wav file EASILY? These "waveform" type programs like Audacity really PI$$ ME OFF.
Wouldn't it be awesome if we could load a wave file into a program - be able to play it and listen to it - pause the playback and have the software place a "marker" of some sort at that place in the .wav - continue playback till the next break of your choosing - place another "marker"....and so on and so on....
THEN when you have all of your "markers" in place....the program would break up the one large .wav file into the smaller .wav files?
In this day of DVD Ripping - AC3 decoding and 4.7 gigs of info burned in MINUTES....why don't we have software like this?
OK....I'm done venting
Can anyone help?

check out Wavelab from Steinberg.. it supports putting in markers, and I think there's a way to split at markers.
although I've never had any problems splitting files manually in any editor, so this might be a PEBCAK error...- housepig

Try a shareware program "cdwave". It does exactly what you
want. I use it to split LP recording into tracks to transfer them
to CDR. -
