  1. Just saw this on Livewarehouse.com They are to ship on 11/02 Optorites new DVD burner which burns DVD+/-R at 8x. Yep both +/- at 8x.

What perplexes me is Livewarehouse has 2 stores and they are advertising their drives at different prices. Not sure if anyone has picked up on this but take a look.

This along with HD-Burn and CDR at 40x will make this one killer drive. Much cheaper than Plextors but obviously not as robust as Plextors.

As anyone else heard about this new drive? I can't seem to find anything new regarding this drive.

Have they got the issues with the 4x burner straightened out yet?

Can't see even considering this one untill the coaster and support (or lack of) issues are cleared up!

  4. The DD0401 is 8x DVD+R,4x DVD-R,4xDVD+RW,2x DVD-RW and will also be rebagded by I/O Magic. The electronics are made by Sanyo but Optorite makes the mechanism.

EDIT:My mistake on the BenQ,they make their own drives and their 8x writer is available now:

That BenQ will sell a rebadged DD0401 can not be correct as BenQ makes its own DVD writers now (in a joint venture with Philips). Source?
