    I've got a DVD-R 4x silver-top with no Media ID and no media code speed. All it has is a 4x write strategy and is ver 2.2 media. Tried several ID programs, all nothing. What the... ?

    Was testing something that was given to me.

    Smells like really cheap media to me. The epitome of generic media.........

    ps. Did it burn? Did you speed test the burn to see how many errors there were in the writing?

    I got some sample Shop4tech.com Matrix 4X DVD-R and +R disks, and they have no Manufacturer ID on them. Maybe that's what you have.
