  1. I had a problem with my motherboard, so i switched it with an asus a7v8x mobo. After doing all the wiring and screwing, i started up the computer and it worked, but it didn't work all the way. The bios would load up but then it would say "No drive connected to fasttrack. The bios is not installed" or somethin like that, i found some links on the internet that suggest this has to do with raid configurations in my bios. I went in there and tried to change every last option about ata/sata/raid but it still doesn't work. It just says that, asks me if i want to boot into safe mode or regular, then no matter what i pick, it reboots. any ideas?

  2. Don't mean to sound rude but could you provide a little more info, system wise. Are you trying to use RAID or SATA HDD's. All I can suggest is go into the BIOS and select "Load defaults". Disconnect everything except for your OS Hard drive then see if it boots up. If that works start adding IDE's one by one.

  3. not rude at all, my fault. I'm running an athlon xp 1800, asus a7v8x, regular ide harddrives (2) jumpers are set accordingly. I've already tried loading defaults, and disconnect hd's all over the place, i'm actually typing this on my oterh computer cause mine doesn't work. But i'm gonig to just try and boot up off the windows disc and reinstall xp... maybe that'll fix it

  4. All the links in here are directly from the ASUS site...

I'm curios. Is this the board you have?? http://usa.asus.com/products/mb/socketa/a7v8x-x/overview.htm

If it is try this BIOS Program: http://www.asus.com/support/english/techref/cfbios2/index.aspx

What kind of RAM do you have installed? It needs at least PC2100 to work properly.

Would you mind writing down exactly what it says, the error, and any error code that might come up. Does it say something like "Primary HD failure, Press F1 to continue" I only ask cause I have an 1800 Xp and used to get that a lot.
If there was no BIOS installed then it wouldn't recognize anything you plug in, HD CD-rom and what not. Also does it pass the POST test, no i'm guessing? I'm sure you know this already but you should a hear single beep. Does it read the correct amount of RAM during start up (you know the screen that counts from 0 to XXXX amount of RAM?
    Hope that helps

Here's the link to the newset BIOS and other goodies that board has. http://www.asus.com/support/download/item.aspx?ModelName=A7V8X-X
