I just saw a commercial for the Director's cut of the movie Alien, in theaters Wednesday. So I guess if they can't come up with anything new, they will just rerelease the old hits with a few "new" scenes added. And they worry about pirates
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

  2. 'Classics' get re-leased all the time (Star Wars, Disney Films, Gone with the Wind, How green is my valley, etc). Alien might make that list (matter of opinion). Yes, it's make money but really it's to establish a whole new generation with the film and get the 'old timers' back in to see it one more time.

Disney basically refused to release their videos on VHS at first because of this. Their model was to re-lease them every 5-10 years instead (they changed their minds since).

Now when you start to see them re-leasing 'Dude wheres my car' that's a sign they've run out of new stuff. Remember thou that very few movies made are worth watching, and even fewer are worth watching again. It's not that movies were 'so much better back in the day' as we only concern ourselves with the ones that were actually good. A fair amount of crap was made back then as well.
