  1. I just bought 100 Riteks from Shop4Tech and 5 in a row have failed to write with a "Media Sense Error". This is good and bad news, as I have found the "Media Sense Error" is the hardware surrendering prior to writing, so they're not coasters.

Is there any way to find out the Disk Media Info on the Mac? I tried Virtual PC and some PC utilities, but they either don't recognize the drive (a Pioneer 105) or give generic info (N/A not a pressed disk). I really suspect these are G03s instead of G04s but I really don't want to burn one to prove them wrong...

I am not aware of a way to check media codes on a mac, unfortunately.

the only way i know is to use a pc if you have one, or a friends if they have one.

    anyone else care to agree/disagree?

have you tried using a differnt burning program? Sometimes Toast can be a bit picky... i have that error before and solved it using Dragon Burn instead.

About the most disc info you are going to be able to get on the Mac is in toast by "getting disc info", which pretty much sucks.

a shame isnt it. wouldnt it be nice if Panther would give you media codes automatically when you got info on a mounted blank dvd or cd.

wow, how sweet that would be.

I wonder if apple takes update recommendation advice
