I have been attempting to re-author DVD's of concerts lately, and seem to run into a new problem with each disk. It's driving me insane!!!
I am using Smart Ripper to rip the VOB files (only the VOB's, nothing else) to my HD, and am using DVD-Lab to Demux the files into m2v and ac3 files.
The problem that I am having, is that the timing on the m2v file resets to 0:00 at different points during the file. Everything goes ok for the duration of the authoring process (creating menu's, inserting chapters...), but when I play the dvd in either my DVD-ROM or my standalone, it freezes when it arrives at the first point of reset timing. I am unable to determine what is controlling the timing on the file, so I have been unable to solve the problem.
Is there a program that will allow me to reset the time for the entire file, or should I encode the m2v to a different file type or something?
I have been stuck on this for weeks now, and am getting very frustrated. It just seems that every time I get around one error, I run into something new on the next disk. Oy!
Note: I have attempted using different ripping software (dvd decryptor, smart ripper), along with different demux programs (dvdlab, vobedit) with the same results each time.
Any ideas?

This isn't a ripper problem. All you are doing is ripping the .VOBs, with their timings and everything. So, when you try to make a DVD from them (and haven't done anything to adjust the timing), they will display (and use) their timings from the original DVD.
You need to merge your .M2V files (TMPG can do this), or use a "play-list" option in an authoring program.ICBM target coordinates:
26° 14' 10.16"N -- 80° 16' 0.91"W -
When I demux the VOB's, it only outputs 1 m2v file. So I am unable to merge the files.
By using a playlist, do you mean having the multiple video files played right after each other in sequence? As far as I can see right now, this would require splitting the m2v file up where the time resets to 0:00 into smaller files...which seems like more work than should be necessary. There must be an easier way. Of course, maybe that's not what you meant at all.
So what is it that determines the timing in the file? Cells? If so, is it possible to re-create these from scratch using a program?

pulldown can reset the timecode for the whole file (its in its options)-- or just re-encode
