I'm planning to but a DVD player for a friend in Mexico (I live in LA, CA). I was going to pick one up here since the players in Mexico seem to be more expensive. I just found out that Mexico is in region 4 and a player bought here will not play discs bought in Mexico.
Whats a better idea (better as far as cost vs effort): To buy the player here in the States and hack it, buy a region free player (I assume they're not cheap)?
I need it to play region 1 and 4.
Does Dvdrhelp.com have a list of links to player hacks?
Sorry for all the questions. I've never had a need for a region free player b4.

I am very pleased with the Philips 726 (Region Free). It also is outstanding for SVCD and VCD playback as well. Very slick low profile case, component video output, and easy to use remote. Got mine at Sears for $69.
