I see a lot of guides with cce 2.66 and below but nothing on 2.67. i have 2.67 and get jerky playback. i started with a dv file, used mpeg2 ES vbr 1 pass, imported the streams into dvdlab, everything worked great except for the motion scenes are "jerky". i checked all settings with other guides but some of the options are different. i have a feeling it has to do with interlace / progressive. I dont remember a setting on this version that lets me choose, and if there is and i missed it which one should i pick.
or maybe i should try an older version?

there is a setting .. did you read the manual ?
did you read any guides ?
if you bought 2.67 for 2500$ ... there is no point in going backwards ...
lightspeed will give you some basic help ..."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
Dv is bottom field first. You'd have to select top field first in CCE in order to keep the correct field order. Either that, or you can reverse your field order before encoding.
Since you've already encoded the file with the wrong field order, use pulldown.exe to reverse it. -
in reality, in 2.67.08 - 13 you select bottom field first (set it at 1 or 3)

I guess they changed it in later releases. Previous versions the only way to process bff material is to tick tff.

real upper field you leave it at 0 or 2 if so inclined .."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
thanks for the replies, i actually stumbled on the setting late last night and it worked. i set it to 1. i am used to tmpgenc so i was "looking" for a straight forward top or bottom field first selection. I took a 100 min dv and encoded to mpeg2 es vbr one pass. it took about 4.5 hrs and another 30min to compile in either maestro or dvdlab(i tried both). so now i am staying with cce. tmpgenc took about 16hrs to encode so i am saving almost a half day and i see no difference in quality.
BJ_M, i know it is obvious (hindsight) that I overlooked 1 setting out of 100, but that is what i thought this forum was for, helping to educate and discuss various things video related with each other, and it does state in the forum rules to do some basic research, not to become an expert on everything before posting. after adam replied you finally let the cat out of the bag (too late for me, i found my mistake before that).
i have been monitoring this forum for over 2 years now, when things started getting more organized i decided to sign up and become a proud member. i guess what i am trying to say is, lighten up, if i wasted one of your mouseclicks send me a bill, i will buy you a new mouse.
and some cali wine if you like.
