    Ok,

I have a few more questions to ask all you knowledge'able
people here. I'd like to know what values or choices
    should be set or checked.
Also, I've read the site here that explains most of TMPGEnc
settings and what they mean, but they are quite brief. I'm
looking for more understanding and how to best utitilize
    these settings.
These are from my captures via my DC10+ card - capturing
from satalette. Some of these are just to refresh my
understanding. Ok, assuming that I'm encoding from my DC10+
capture to .avi file, my standard settings for this type of
    work would be:

    ENCODING IN MPEG-2:
    -------------------

    [GENERAL]
    Aspect Ratio: 1:1vga, 4:3, 16:9, etc.
    Video Format: [ ] Interlaced
VBV buffer: [48] value -------------- ' optimum value is?

    Ok, ...
Aspect Ratio - is this based on weather I want my final
output to be viewed on TV (use 4:3), or PC (use 1:1vga)??
    Is that what this means??

    Video Format: [x] Interlaced
I've ben using this for my MPEG-2 encoding, cause it shows
up, but not in MPEG-1. Should this be checked when I do
MPEG-2 (SVCD) from my captured .avi of Satalette programs??
...and what about if it's from a DVD rip??

    VBV buffer: [48]
what is the best value to put in this box if I'm making a
SVCD of 480x480 or sometimes 720x480? I understand that it
also depends on the template per your project (VCD or SVCD)
    etc.
Also, I'm not sure what is ment by leaving as [0] for
automatic value. Does the automatic value change as the
video is being recorded, or does it just arbitrarly choose
    a value randomly??

    [ADVANCED]
    Video Source Type: Interlace/non-progressive/progressive
    Filed Order:
    -------- ' I need help here.
    Source Aspect Ratio:
    1:1/4:3 525 line/4:3-(704x480)/4:3 display/16:9

    Ok, ...
How does Source asp. ratio relate to my source file (.avi)?
Should I be using the (1:1 vga)?? or (4:3 display) or the
    (4:3 525 line) ??

Field Order - From memory, I heard that they got this all
messed up in all the version of TMPG. If this is true,
what is the secret to using the correct one, no matter what
version of TMPG I'm using? I heared it's reversed on some,
and on others, the word was misspelled, or swapped
    (left/right).

    [GOP Structure]
    GOP: 1/5/2/1

    Ok, ...
    GOP:
My current values for this is: 1/5/2/1
I've heard from a past post that a 1/4/3/1 was spose to
give better results, but I am not able to make that
determination (yet). Are there any benefits to using one
or two values less or higher, to gain better quality?? or
    is it not so??

Also, what's the real benefits of unchecking
    [ ] Detect Scene changes??

    [AUDIO]
    [x] Calculate CRC

CRC: this box seems to be checked automatically. What's
the advantage of NOT checking it??
Plese note, I mostly use TMPGenc version 12
sometimes, when experimenting, I'll use 12a or 12j

Ok, I think that's pretty much it - as to the settings I use
most in my encoding projects for MPEG-2 SVCD 480x480.

I would REALLY apprecate answere to ALL my questions, minues
being sent to the already read TMPGEnc explained link here.
I'm now looking for those experienced users input based on
    there usage.

Thank you all for your time!!

Yes, I've ben here about a dozen times and even made
a copy of it (somewhere), but I have a link to it on my
personal web page - a page that automatically loads up
as my home page every time I start my browser. I just
couldn't remember where I entered this link... but I do
    now.

Anyways, I'm still looking for any additional comments
to my questions, if there are any out there.

Truman, thank you for your prompt response!!
