  1. Wow i am impressed...i dont know if it is the TMPGenc 2.0 i just got but this is what happened. Before i had dual processors at 667mhz each. Well i was using TMPGenc and i was converting movies from AVI to MPG in like 2hours or so, give or take some time there. And was converting Vob files to MPG files in like 3-4 hours. Well i upgraded my system to a 1.2 Ghz Tyan Dual MOBO with 256 DDR, then set the TMPGenc to multithreading for 2 processors (never did that before on old system) and i am coverting a hell of alot faster. My times now are....AVI to MPG = 20 minutes and Vob to MPG = 1 hour. I am using the same Template. Unbelievable !!!! I am not sure if it had to do with the Multithread with 2 processor setting i made in TMPGenc or because my system rocks. But this is nice. Just wanted to tell everyone that if you have those dual processors then put so some of guns to work.

I own a dual processor Pentium II with 384 Meg Ram (not exactly State-of-Art now, but it was 4 years ago), and I too have seen a significant decline in processing time with tmpgenc version 2

tmpg 2.0 is optimized for sse command system.

i believe p2's only support mmx.

I clearly wrote a "decrease" in processing TIME, which implies faster processing.

  6. I have a dual Athlon 1.2 computer, too, and the speed in TMPGEnc beta 12j is pretty incredible compared to what I used to get with my 700 mhz Pentium III.

I haven't tried TMPGEnc 2.0 yet, but if it's optimized for SSE, all should be good as Athlon MP processors make use of that instruction set.

  7. Oh sorry i was half asleep when i wrote that. hehehe i didnt mean to criticize you. But yeah i set the TMPGenc for dual processors and click on everything that lighted up. And now i can convert movies in no time. I just batch some encoding up which envolved some avi's to mpg's and some vob to mpg conversion. I batched up 10 files and they were all done in 4 hours. Which before my vob to mpg conversion of just one file took 4 hours alone by itself, now this time i batched up 10 movies. We are talking full movies here. =)
I am now very, very, very happy. =)
