  1. I was under the impression that all DVD+R discs work in all DVD+RW Drives... I guess that isn't the case... the problem I'm having is with the cheapie Digital Matrix brand of DVD+R 4X...

when I insert a DVD+R into the DVDRW drive, it spins for about... 45 seconds or so, then reads as not having a disc inserted... similar to what would happen if I were to put a blank CDR into a CDROM drive... it knows that they're something in it, it just can't tell what, so it decides that NOTHING is in the drive... if that makes any sense at all.

this is NOT a problem with nero, or other CD burning application, I've tried many... even windows itself doesn't recognize that there is any disc in the drive whatsoever. also, it isn't a problem with the DVDRW drive... I've used memorex DVD+R and DVD+RWs on the drive, with no problems... the drive still reads DVD discs (data, and DVD movie) along with reading and writing CDR(W) discs...

The drive is a Lite-On LDW-401S and HAS been updated to the latest firmware.

help would be GREATLY appriciated... I know now after reading up, that digital matrix is a shitty brand to buy... but now that I have them, I'd love to use them instead of just tossing them.

  2. Stick to [RICOHJPN] code +R/W medias. Most of them are...
    Ritek, Arita, TDK, Verbatim,etc...
    Why use the cheap junk?
I didn't even know DigitalMatrix existed.
You get what you pay for.

I can't really help with your current disc problem. There are only 2 member/user comments for that brand in DVD Media lists.

I can recommend - for future - to check the Media, Writer and even Player databases on the left to see what combinations are working for other owners.

I realise it does not help you now, but it can help when you go to make your next disc choice.
    There's no place like 127.0.0.1
The Rogue Pixel: Pixels are like elephants. Every once in a while one of them will go nuts.

  4. I appriciate your reply, Gees, and I will indeed use the database for future reference... thanks again!

Tompika... saying "You get what you pay for" is absurd... I agree, quality CAN directly relate to cost, but not always... and what you said is also untrue in that I paid for cheap DVD+Rs... not expensive coasters.
