When i burn it and put it in the DVD player (stand alone) it says "No disc". the file i burnt to disc i saved as a MPEG-2 720X48 29.97FPS but my DVD player wouldn't reconize. what format/size should i capture in and what format/size should i make my DVD's?? Thanks in advance. I appreciate it.

you burnt the mpeg2 directly to DVD?
if that's the case, then you've created a data dvd (of mpg data).

you need to "author" to make a DVD-video disk. (ie convert MPG to vob and add dvd navigation files)

check out the author link on the left and look for basic authoring. there's some freeware tools in there too.

(your format size, etc looks Ok at this stage)

hope this points you in the right direction.

You're still in a jam. Not enough information to go on.

For now - because you are so short on time- you can use VideoStudio to go from start to finish and produce a working DVD. Forget the other programs for now, read all the VS6 files/help and you can use a template in VS for DVD to get the disc in time.

Before you do - look up your burner in the DVD Writer section on the left and read any user comments to see what brand/type disc works best for other members/owners.

    Get a recommended (+ or -) disc - AND a RW.
Write the DVD to your harddrive first (choose DVD folder option in VS6).
Test it in PowerDVD (or other)
    Write to a RW disc
    Test in the player
Write to the final R disc

  6. Easier would be to download dvd movie factory 2, free trial. Load the file in click output to disc. Easiest method have your disc in seven clicks.

  7. ok, i did it BUT... i could only get my DVD player to play DVD+RW discs. i used a memorex and son +R and it wouldn't work. I took one of the memorex and put it in my pc and clicked "explore" and it looks like all the files are there, it just won't play in my DVD player. Any ideas?

for sure you know your player has support for +r disks?
use the DVD Players tab in the OTHER section of the left side of this forum window to look up your player.

    other options are....
    1. include AUDIO_TS folder?
    2. burn the VIDEO_TS folder as a sub folder within the disk? or in the root of the disk? the 2nd means you have the files, but they are in the wrong place on the disk

  9. I am using the Apex AD-1110W. Looks like others (according to the reports) are having problems with the +R discs. Grrr... well, what did i expect for 44.00

Can't you just use the RW disc for the play tomorrow? Then worry about disc/player compatabilty after that?

You can always reuse the RW when it's all over.

  11. Yep, that's what i'm going to do. I really hate the fact that i made 4 or 5 DVD+R's and thought I was making "coasters"- waste of money and time.
