  1. I have several 320x240 .AVI files that I have on my computer of home vidoes because my capture card can only capture at 320x240.

Can someone please tell me the settings I need in TMPGEnc to convert the 320x240 to DVD because I have tried SEVERAL times and the video is not fitting on my TV (the video is too big) when I play it through the DVD Player.

    Thanks for the help.

Did you use the DVD template?

You need to resize to 352x240. If you use the DVD template it will resize to 720x480 and the quality will be horrible.

Set the source aspect ratio on the advanced tab to 1:1 and set the video arrange method to full screen keep aspect ratio. On the video tab set the aspect ratio to 4:3. If any of these settings were set to something different than it could have caused your video to display incorrectly.

I can tell you what I do. It is time consuming but in the end the quality is terrific. It does require frameserving though so if you're not familiar with it read the guides to the left. First I load the avi into Virtual Dub. Then i go to video, filters, and use a resize filter (Lanczos3, Precise Bicubic, etc. I prefer Precise Bicubic because it softens better for me) to a larger size. How large a size depends on your TV and what part of the video is overscanning. For me, I use 640 x 420, then letterbox with black border to 720 x 480 (assuming your using NTSC). Then I add a filter for softening the block noise (2d Cleaner Optimized (0.9) by Jim Casaburi). It is probably available on the Virtual Dub website. If not, a quick google search could find it or PM me and I'll E-mail it to you).
Then I load the frameserved file into Tmpgenc and it comes out very clear, relatively speaking. The resizing takes some trial and error but once you get a formula down it works the best for me.

Hope this helps. By resizing and softening it really helps diminish the "blockiness" that you will experience by going straight up to 720 x 480 without the resize.

This might sound a bit overwhelming but it was for me at first also. I do a lot of upsizing from 352x240 and you'll become good at it in a short time.
