  1. Hi everyone..

I just ripped a movie from DVD to SVCD last night. Gosh it was long (about 10 hours). and when I tried playing it using PowerDVD, the audio was out of sync from the beginning..

The sound goes first about 2 seconds before the video. I usually use Virtual Dub for DivX ripps when they are out of sync. but this time, I can't even open the file in Vdub. There is an error message saying "MPEG Import Filter : pack syncronisation error".

Is there anyway to fix this? I used SmartRipper & DVDx (I didn't set Audio and Video Sync on, I never did actually but the previous results were fine.) Please don't tell me I have to do it all over again with that setting on

You can always try Virtual Dub mod.

Virtually idiot proof, supports CCE and TMPG, you can pick 2/3/4/5 disks, will do AVI's and DVDs (after they are ripped). Never had a sync issue.

  5. I mean without having to re-encode the whole movie.

Virtually idiot proof? I'm not so certain about that, since there are still guides of how to use it. Or are you saying that people who needs those guides are super-duper idiots ?

I'm afraid you will have to reencode or rerip the DVD.Next time try frameserving DVDx with TMPGEnc and the Premiere Video server plugin.

Shut up Fulcilives, or I'll eat you If you're so smart, then why don't you make a program that can do that without re-encoding.

    MOVIEGEEK: Thx for the advice.

No need to reencode. Since the the audio is off by the same amount thruout the movie, do this:
    • Demux the mpeg.
Load the audio track in GoldWave.
Insert 2 secs (or whatever time the audio is too early by) of silence at the start of the audio.
      Save wav.
      Encode wav to mp2
Multiplex old video and new audio.
      Author.
