I have the DVD-Video side down pat, but what I wanna know is, is it possible to make my own DVD-Audio disc? I want to make one of all the Christmas music I have. Does it just require upsampling WAV audio to 48 Khz (easily done) or converting to AC3 in BeSweet or something like that? Does anyone know of software that allows one to create a DVD-Audio disc? Thanks!

  2. Many of us have been archiving our CD music collections into
MP3 CDs, so that if the original CD is damaged or lost, it can
    be replicated.

We have also found that MP3 music CDs are convenient for
parties, etc, with each CD holding approx 140 songs, and most
DVD players will happily play MP3 discs.

This may not be news to you, but you can also create DVD MP3's.
Today I burnt a standard DVD-R which contained most of my music
collection. It contains over 700 MP3 music tracks, all accessible
via Menu, and very playable on both of my settop DVD players

I've made a DVD of Mp3's before, but only one of my players is capable of playing them I figure I can rip the albums to a wingle WAV file, and then encode that as a .mp2 file, and my DVD authoring software should allow me to just treat them as any normal video file.

  4. Hi.

The answer is YES...but there is a BUT..a big BUT..the software is very expensive. go have a look here http://www.discwelder.com

The DVD Audio products are called DISC Welder, you can download a demo but its completely non-functioning, which is a pity, Ive had a quick play with it and it seems easy to use, you drag your tracks in, choose surround settings, pictures, etc.

The 'steel' version costs about $500 and the 'silver' is $2000, which puts it out of reach of most people.

DVD Audio supports sampling upto 192 Khz, but im not sure wot software can resample your audio that high, Ive got goldwave and I think it goes upto 96Khz, also its unlkely your PC is gonna be able to play it, unless youve got a very good soundcard.

Ive got a Panasonic DVD Audio/Video player and Id love to make my own compilation on DVD Audio, apparently you can use your standard DVD writer to make the discs, but I guess ill have to wait untill the DVD audio software is a bit more affordable, or perhaps by magic my 'demo' version will become a 'full' version...no luck yet though !

I figured out what I will do. I found a little tool that will allow me to merge the separate album MP3's into one file, which I will then convert to a 48Khz WAV, and just use that to create an audio menu on a DVD, using the CD cover as the menu graphic. Then set the menu duration to the length of my WAV file, and I'm golden. I figure I can fit around 7 complete christmas albums on a DVD. Thanks for the help.
