  1. Does anyone have a specific method to convert video from a PC (preferably from an AVI file) directly to VHS.

I've tried exporting using Windows Movie Maker 2 > Dazzle Hollywood DV Bridge > S-Video or composite > VCR, however this proves to be unsuccessful.

Any suggestions? Software or hardware needed?

    Thank you so much!

How do you mean exactly? Nothing getting through to the video tape at all? Unacceptably low quality?

All you really need is a graphics card with TV-out (either S-VIDEO or Composite) and matching inputs on your VCR.

If you're using a SCART->S-VIDEO adapter or something similar on your VCR, make sure that the adapter is set correctly for input/output.

You'll often need to connect the VCR to your sound card separately (often two phono plugs on the VCR for L/R, which you have to connect to a small headphone type output on your soundcard).

If you can get the TV-out video signal to show up on a TV screen (connected to the VCR?) and the sound comes out of the TV too, then the VCR should be able to record this signal.

Then just play your file with a decent full-screen player (WMP, PowerDVD, WinDVD etc..), and hit record on the VCR.

    cheers,
    mcdruid.

P.S. If you have any problems with this, please try and be as specific as you can describing them - the more info you give, the more likely it is that we will be able to help.

  3. Well I've tried (from firewire > Dazzle firewire out > S-Video in), however the image that comes up on the screen has a distorted image such that it has a vertically panning horizontal bar....
