The minidvd format supports everything that a dvd does. To make one you basically just use dvd authoring software to re-author your dvd, only using a very short clip of your movie per disk or using a downgraded version of your movie. (MUCH lower bitrate.) Like jazlee said there are very few dvd players that will play this and even the ones that will play it will require you to swap out the loader. Its a pretty useless format all around in my opinion.

Both vcds and svcds also support menu's as well as a number of other interactive features. If your looking to playback your movies on your dvd player these are the formats of choice. To learn how to author menu's and features into your svcds and vcds just click on the AUTHOR link and read the guides.

  4. I love minidvd format. My sampo play all fine. Better quality. Now I only use it for home video and few movies. Movies will take three to four cd. minidvd seems to play better on my dvd than svcd.
