  1. Hi guys,
I have ripped one DVD using Smart Ripper (I think it was in file mode) about a year ago with the purpose to burn it on DVD once I get burner. Now I got DVD burner and I am not sure what would be the steps to author DVD from the DVD rip I have. The rip is now bigger then 4.7 GB. I would like to drop some languages and special features and then shrink it or burn it if the size would be less then 4.7 GB.
Any idea where to start? I found lots of documentation how to copy and author dvd but none how to create dvd once you have rip on your hard drive (bunch of vob files etc..)

    Thanks for the help

  3. Thanks for the reply – unfortunately I used movie mode not file mode. In this case I am missing VIDEO_TS.IFO file.
Now the DVDShrink is giving me “FAILED TO OPEN FILE: SYSTEM CANNOT FIND THE FILE SPECIFIED” error message.
Is there any way I can still somehow author the dvd or recreate the missing file?

    Thanks

Just use ifoedit to create the ifo files from the vob files.
You create your own reality. Interested in media servers and HTPC? Can we talk?

  5. Back before DVDshrink I used to use smartripper, then dvd2avi, then chapterextractor, then TMPGenc, then Maestro, then burn.

This takes quite some time and has a lot of software that you many not have or will have a hard time getting (Maestro is not supported anymore). The guides are a Doom9 I think.

Seems like a whole lifetime ago. Try DVD2one or Instant copy.

Oh christ I did this the other week, the solution involved using IFOEDIT and VOBEDIT. I messed around for ages before that tyring to use DVD Shrink, even tried TMPGenc DVD Author by putting all VOBs in but it didn't like it.

Incidentally if you have just 1 massive VOB then TMPGEnc DVD Author will take it + then you can add your own chapters, etc.

    I followed this link:
