I've got some dvds (guns n roses - use your illusion tour 1 & 2) and was wondering if it is possible to extract the audio and burn it on a audio cd to be played in any standard cd player,

if this is possible can some1 please explain how?

There's probably an easier way to do this but here goes...first rip the dvd using smartripper or something else and then use dvd2avi to get the wav file which you can burn to a cd(you could also edit the parts you dont want using some audio software). Like I said, there's probably a better way to do this but this is the only way I know how.

I'd follow the same route, but use DVDDecrypter and rip in chapter mode (to get 1 VOB each chapter), as each tune is usually one chapter. That way, it's easy to select one VOB at a time with DVD2AVI to extract and decode to wav.

    Don't forget AUDACITY
to cut the wave file up if you want track selections on the CD

  7. Ive done it a few times. I used dvddecrypter to extract the audio (on music DVDS it is often LPCM WAV).

However. I then had probs using the LPCM WAVs, software like goldwave didnt like it, so I ended up using Total recorder to record the audio.

BUT if the music DVD has a AC3 DD soundtrack instead of LPCM WAV, then i exytracted that and used HeadAC3e to turn DD AC3 to WAV.

Have tried this can't seem to get it to work, could you tell me exactly what to do?

  9. Use DVD Decrypter to rip the AC3 audio stream. Uncheck the others and only choose the AC3 stream. Then enable stream processing and choose DEMUX then hit Decrypt. after that use Goldwave to convert it to 44.1KHz and normalize(maximize) the audio and save as WAV. Then use CDWav to split the wav up into tracks.

I did this last night with the John Mayer DVD.

If you tell DVD Decrypter to split output at chapter points (Tools -> Settings), and the DVD is authored with chapter points at each tune (which seems to be the usual way to do a music/concert DVD) you'll get one VOB / chapter/tune.
Now, run each of these VOBs, one by one, in DVD2AVI to get one wav each tune.

Didn't seem to work jst got 1 VOB file, but what i have managed to do is ripped the audio stream using DVDdecrypter, conveted it to WAV using goldwave, then tried splitting the tracks using Audacity, that all worked fine but when i try to write it to a cd i get a error saying that "the file blahblah.WAV cannot be recorded to your disk because it is not in the correct format"

Is there an easier way to split the tracks if there is PLEASE HELP cause im a complete tard and can't work it out for myself!?

Once you have the audio in GoldWave, just select start and end positions and then use "Save selection".
Make sure that you set the frequency to 44.1 kHz first. Use the "Resample" option in the Effects menu if not, to resample to 44.1 kHz. This is required to write the wav to audio CD.
