I was trying to backup Star Trek DS9,season 5,disk 1. I could not rip it to my HD. I tried DVD Decrypter and Smartripper,in four different DVD-Rom drives, but every one would hangup at the same point, about 50% thru the rip. It even froze in my standalone player at the same point.
I knew the problem was in vob #4 so I tried ripping vob #4 in my Pioneer DVD recorder, while slow it was able to the complete without any problem.
I then ripper the rest of the files in file mode with DVD Decrypter and then had DVD ripped completely to my HD.
FYI

Did you try playing it first to unlock it? Are you sure it plays fine all the way & is it clean?

It's dirty/scratched. Clean it with toothpaste, or tell your ripper to skip after 5 failures.
