Hi all,
This is a vary peculiar situation. I have WINDOWS 2000 installed and a 60 GB hard drive. After I am done working with DVD files(about 7 GB each), I delete them. But for some reason, the capacity shown in the Windows explorer does not reflect this. For example, at present, the Explorer shows that I have only about 350 MB remaining. But the fact is I should have about 25 GB at this stage!! I tried restarting the machine a couple of times, but to no avail. As has happened in the past, later the capacity reflected in the Explorer starts showing the correct figure (not sure how though!!).
Any help to resolve this would be more than welcome.
Thanks.

Smells like Norton Protected files? Norton System works doesn't delete anything. Try 'Empty Protected Files'
Try emptying your trashcan.
Refresh the window to see if the changed free space appears correct. To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan -
Not necessarily Norton. Windows doesn't recapture deleted file space until you empty the trash can.
Test this thus:
1) Note your disk free space.
2) Delete a large file.
3) Note your disk free space (REFRESH).
4) Empty the trash can.
5) Note your disk free space (REFRESH).
You won't see any change until step five.ICBM target coordinates:

I have tried this out already, but no luck. I have also restarted the machine also after emptying the trash can.

Which software temporary work files? I know that DVD Shrink creates small files only. I am not sure about other file locations. Any help would be welcome.
