  1. Newbie here...
Using Pinnacle Studio 8 to burn stills with tranisitions & music onto dvd-R. Got the process down....play it on my stand alone dvd player once maybe twice...perfect....then it starts to skip & freeze. Even when cared for with kid gloves. Doesn't happen on just mine...friends play them...can skip first time, or not until the 3rd or 4th go around. I know these disks can be touchy but it looks like I stink at this....is there a vast difference in quality of the blank dvds? Any other suggestions? Thanks so much.

Huge differences in the quality of blank media.

    Read through the media forum

And the DVD Media user reports. According to the media reports, Ritek seems to be one of the best available.

Though the media is very touchy, a small fingerprint, and even a few small/light scratches rarely effect playback for me on my players. Cheap media will skip no matter what though.

Also, if your DVD player is rather old, it could have just seen better days. As is the case with my 2 year old Apex, which refuses to play pressed DVDs, and skips with some brands of blank DVD-R media, while my Panasonic, Philips, and newer Apex players don't skip with the same disc/media.
