  1. I've been looking into getting a TBC. The two I hear talked about most are the AVT 8710 and the Datavideo 1000.

While both have component inputs, I've noticed that the AVT does not have audio inputs where the Datavideo does. (at least from the pictures I've seen)

I know that TBCs don't deal with audio, but I wonder in the case of the AVT, if the video going thru the TBC but not the sound will have an effect on A/V synch?

Anyone have experience with either or both?

  2. I don't see how that's possible.

All TBC's affect sync, but it's measurable in milliseconds in most cases.

  4. In a "normal" capture situation, the a/v signal goes from my VCR to my computer. Stick a TBC between the two and you have some sort of delay (however miniscule) in the signal getting to the computer as the TBC does its work.

Using the AVT, the video signal goes from the VCR to TBC to Computer.

BUT, the audio signal goes only from VCR to Computer. There's no TBC in there to delay the audio signal.

Logic would suggest that the audio signal would reach the computer faster than the video signal creating synch issues.

My question is if this is the case?
