I have downloaded, encoded and burnt various movies am baffled as to why a 60 min file turns into a file to big to fit on one disc. Have I changed a setting somwhere, the file I am speaking of is the second half the first half I had no problems with. Any ideas would much appreciated.

Hi. Welcome to the Forum. :c)
Impossible to help you though. You don't give anyone any information to work with.
From what file type - to what file type? Using what programs (besides or in addition to tmpgenc)? What are you trying to do? End result?
What "disc"? CD, DVD?
Pop in a bit more info and lots of people can try to help. :c)There's no place like 127.0.0.1

Go back to TMPGEnc and open the Wizard. Choose your template, follow the prompts, and when you get to screen #4/5, select Expert. Change the Rate Control Mode to 2-pass, VBR, then okay. Now you can adjust the bit rate and percentage to make your video fit on your disk. Change the Rate Control back to the way you want it, if you do not want 2-pass, VBR. Continue to format you file.

Sorry bout that, first timer. The file is divx, am using Tmpgenc to encode to mpg then to burn a vcd. Have also got virtualdub but Tmpgenc has been doing a good job without extracting sound so I havent been using it and all my vcd's are in sync. Hope this makes more sense.

Why bother replying if you don't have anything helpful to say, we all have to start somwhere, or were you born knowing everything.
Still need help if there is someone with a bit more intelligence than Rabid. -
Open the Divx file with Virtualdub. Do you get a VBR warning pop-up?Check under file information. What is the audio type? You may need to extract the audio to wav and use that as the audio source, I like Goldwave for doing that.

Thanks everyone I will try your suggestions and let you know what happens. does anyone know why this would happen all of a sudden to a file that seems to be the same as the others Ive encoded. could there be a problem with Tmpgenc. Is there a risk of stuffing up the file if I play around with the bitrate.
