    Frustrated... I just switched from BeAll G0001 to Ritek G04.

    What are your average results? After all those firmware updates?

    ritek G04 disks are the best you can buy you should have no problems with those disks...

    Well, it's the best of the cheap stuff, anyway.

    Try the hacked Lite-On firmware. Reports are pretty good with it. Of course, if it explodes, don't blame me.

    The hacked Liteon firmware works well. Also there's a new firmware update for the DRU500AX that you might want to try (2.0g).

    I (and others) have given up, and gone over to the "+R" side. You can get name brand "+R" disks for only slightly over a dollar each, and they always burn successfully at 4x for me (and many others) in the Sony DRU500A.
