  1. i downloaded a couple of avi's (well i thought they were avi files) i usually use ffmpegx to encode to mpeg-2 so i can watch it away from my mac

    but these avi files wont encode. this is the info i get:

    VIDEO: MPEG2 480 x 480 (aspect 2)
    29,97 fps 3062.5 kbs (382.8 kbytes/s)
    audiocodec: framecopy (format=50
    chan=2 rate=44100 bit=16 bps=28000
    sample=1)

    that seems like a strange avi file to me plus at the top of ffmpegx user interface you get a different reading. it says that its

    VIDEO: mpeg-2, size: 480x480, 23.976 fps w/3:2, 2450 kbps.
    AUDIO: mp2, 44100Hz, 224 kbps.

    totally different to the info button reading which do i take has being the more accurate?

    is this just a wrong named file? if anybody has got any ideas on how to get these files to dvd.

    speak now

    This is the correct information. I will probably remove the "Info" button as the information line above the Open.. field is probably enough.

  3. so how will i encode this file? it says it cant read the headers so i used the fix avi and that worked but i still couldnt encode quicktime wont open the files either

  4. Try with the "Decode with mplayer" option enabled.
