hi,
I'm using Power VCR II to capture television shows and VHS tapes. I am using ATI TV wonder VE and I know you can only use Mpeg 1 or mpeg 2 to capture stuff using power vcr but I know you can edit the properties of mpeg 1 and 2. My question is, how can i have watchable quality and take up less hard drive space. I have set it up using MPEG 1 excellent and 30 minutes of video takes up 600 to 700 megs.

May I ask a simply question. What do you intend to do with these files after capture. Author to VCD or DVD? This is important in deciding what your capture settings should be. While I used Power VCR II early on, there are much better programs that give you more control over your captures.

I was going to store them on my hard drive. I can't use the divx codec because whenever I play divx files on my computer, it will restart it self. Difx files don't like my ATI Radeon 9000 pro.

Well then I hope you have a lot of room and someday plan to get them on disk.

Why not use ATI MMC that came with the card and use it. It can capture numerous formats. Guides at my site.
