I have the back to the future triology. I have successfully backed up the main movie files with menus using DVD Shrink, but i however had to make the extras still images. IS there any way I can make a forth disk with nothing but extras from all 3 DVD's? If so what programs would I need or could someone point me to a guide please. And thank you all for your replies & help.

  2. Hello dudeman316.

If you're not concerned about menu(s), you can use DVD Shrink v3.0 beta 5 to make a compilation of the extras.

    The "compilations" guide:

If you're not famliar with v3.0 beta, I'd suggest you view the following guide first:

  4. There are 2 ways you could go about doing it:

    1) Load the first disc.
    2) Use "Open Disc".
    3) Switch to "Re-author" mode.
    4) From the first window, drag each title (extras) you want to include in the compilation (you can preview them before selection), using "Start/End" if required.
    5) Backup to a folder you could name D1_EXTRAS.
    6) Repeat set 1 to 5 for the two other discs, each time saving the shrunk files in a different folder (D2_EXTRAS, D3_EXTRAS,etc etc).
    7) Close DVD Shrink (optional).
    8) Relaunch DVD Shrink.
    9) Choose "Open Files" and select the VIDEO_TS.IFO form the first folder (D1_EXTRAS) (Window "A").
    10) Switch to Re-Author" mode and drag the title form the previous window (A) to "NEW DVD" pane in the newly opened window (B).
    11) Go back to the first window (A), use "Open FIles" again, this time selecting "VIDEO_TS.IFO" from the 2nd folder, "D2_EXTRAS".
    12) Without clicking on "Re-author", simply drag the title to the "NEW DVD" pane in window (B). You should now have the extras form both the 1st and 2nd disc in the "New DVD " pane.
    13) Repeat the same procedure for the extras form the third disc.

You could aslo do without having to first rip one of the extras, and add it to the compilation in "Open Disc", reading it directly from your drive, and then dragging the extra(s) you want to add to the compilation to the "New DVD" pane.

I did it, but the DVD would only play in one of my burners & the DVD would only the extra's content I ripped from the 1st DVD, any ideas?

  8. Sorry to hear that, dudeman316.

This "Re-author" problem appears on rare occasions (it is dependent on the DVD player used), and should hopefully be fixed in the next DVD Shrink release.

  9. You could also use DVDStripper to do this. It is not free like DVD Shrink ,but it is well worth it. It will let you strip out the main moive and let you leave all of the extras and Menus intact. It keeps all of the DVD navigation intact so it does not affect play back compatability with stand alones.

dudeman316, dvdshrink has been very busy lately, and I don't actually know if he's had time to work on the DVD Shrink next release.
