I have several home movies I am transfering to dv The date and time was on when they were taken and I would like to remove them in my editing what program do I need to do that

You can't remove them.
You have 2 choices -
Virtualdub and logoaway filter, which will blend/smear them. (IN TOOLS with Guides below)
Place a solid graphic over it throughout the vid that blocks it out completely.There's no place like 127.0.0.1

There are tools (such as "logo away" for VirtualDub) but they DO NOT remove the offending image. Rather they interperate the pixels around it and average out the picture (frame)

Other option is to crop the area were the time stamp is located.
Basically ,you are outta luck for a perfect cure.
