I started a post a week ago asking if anyone new where I might be able to buy glossy printable media.
The reason for the post was because I had bought an Epson Stylus Photo 900 and found the results when printing to Verbatim printable media to look slightly unprofessional. It soon became apparent that no such media was available for inkjet printers.
I decided to try Ritek DVD Master 04 printable media and see if there was any improvement on the print. The results far exceeded my expectations. The prints did not come out glossy but they had a very smooth finish and looked extremely professional.
The printer now appears to be money very well spent.
Just thought somebody might be intersted in this media.[/u]

Good news. :c)
Might have been useful to put that at the end of the original thread. It's always a good thing when the solution can be found in the same place as the original problem.
Others will benefit from it. :c)There's no place like 127.0.0.1

How long did it take for the ink to dry?
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they? -

Where do you get your these Ritek's from?
Does the ink smear?
Thanks,

Thats if they are the same blanks about half way down the page.
I recived a couple of samples and they looked and printed OK, no smearing. Not bothered by small problems...

I ordered the media from www.wcwmedia.com along with 108 Amaray black DVD boxes and 20 double DVD boxes. I paid £26 Inc vat for 25 DVDs, £16 for the Amaray boxes and 15p each for the double boxes. Delivery was £4.50.
When everything arrived I was disappointed to find that I had been sent clear boxes instead of black ones. When I spoke to them they realized they had made the mistake, told me to keep the clear boxes and sent me the black boxes at no extra charge.
Even though the shop had made a mistake I still think that the after sales service was very good on top of the fact that they sold me products at a very low price.
I would definitely recommend this shop.
All 3 disks so far burnt perfectly at 4x speed and played back on my DVD player without any problems.
My printer settings were 'photo paper, best picture and vivid'. The ink dried within two hours without any smearing leaving a very smooth finish. -
Have you tried placing a drop or two of water on one to see if it runs?
I don't have a bad attitude...
Life has a bad attitude! -
Out of curiosity, I have just tried placing a drop of water on the disk. The ink did run very slightly but once I dabbed it off it did not really affect the print.
I suppose I can live with that as I don't have a DVD player in the bathroom.
There is also the choice to use the protective spray I have read about on this site.

Takes about 1 hour to dry to the touch. Looks darker even using the same setting on printer.

As far as I can find, these are not available under that name outside of the UK.

I don't think they look the same jam007. I have never tried any other Ritek DVDs but I am sure you will be able to get the equivalent somewhere outside the UK.
I have printed many more since my original post and have had the same results with all. The people I have shown them to seem to be very surprised at the quality. They even look better than the glossy stickers. -
What kind of software do you use to do full face prints?
Seems like the Epson print cd software dont.. -
One question, when you print and set printer properties, I am sure you select best color photo, but do you also change where it say CD/LABEL (as paper source) to something like photo glossy or do you leave that alone.
What we really need is some screen shots of setting. I too have the epson 900 and most of the time I settle for the somewhat faded look of the CD/LABEL setting but would like it to be better. -
I have the trade mail address for the man who imports the DVD Master into the U.K.You could give him a mail and see if he is prepared to post out to the U.S or anywhere else!

Or another website that sells them is:-

Hope it helps guys 8) 8)Same Dance,Different Disco!! -
I use the standard Epson software and set printer settings to 'BEST PHOTO, VIVID, and PHOTO PAPER'. I much prefer 'PHOTO PAPER' to 'CD/LABEL setting. When applying these settings to print on the DVD Master disks the outcome is excellent.

Just a line to let you all know these discs also write at 8x on Plextor 708A.

Thank you Thank you !
Just so you (and others know) I use
Click and Design 3D to create the mock label. It does an outstanding job, is very versitile and then when I save, I click
File
Save as Graphic
Printer Resolution
It then saves it as a JPEG that I import into the EPSON print software (since that is the only one you can use to print) perfectly -

Maybe a OS , or differnt model issue..?
I have the Stylus Photo 950, OS 2K, Epson Print cd v 1.01E.. -
O/S Xp Pro, Stylus Colour 900, Epson software v 1.01 E Printer is on USB though that should make no diffrence.
So only diffrence is the O/S and Printer, unless it is a UK/Us thing though i dobt it.Not bothered by small problems...
