    Thanks,
Most people will tell you that CCE does it best. I've only recently started foolig around with CCE and I find it usable now that I've gotten decent an creating AviSynth AVS scripts. However CCE can be a pain to deal with.

I like TMPGEnc a lot and I think it works rather well and it is much easier to use than CCE. In my opinion you really can't tell any difference between the two in terms of quality.

HOWEVER ... having said that ... I will tell you that TMPGEnc is a lot slower than CCE and this can be a pain-in-the-ass often times.

For instance I encoded a nearly 2 hour program to MPEG-2 using TMPGEnc and it took 29 hours to do a 2-pass VBR

I realized that I made a mistake in that I inadvertantly changed my luminance from 16-235 to 0-255 (or maybe it was the other way around) so the picture ended up looking too bright ... or washed out.

So I decided I had to encode it again but the second time I used CCE and did a 3-pass VBR and it only took like 19 hours to encode.

That's a big difference in time especially considering I added an extra pass to the CCE encode and yet it was much faster.

  3. Thanks for the reply...

Does anyone familier with the "Canopus" or "Mainconcept" ? I heard that they are "pro" in converting video types.
