  1. hi all,

im new to all this and have spent ages searchin through the forum and guides but with no success.

I have a movie in .tar format which i want to burn onto SVCD. Using UltimateZip i have extracted the .rar files, then when i have tried to extract .bin & .cue files from .rar UltimateZip comes up with the CRC error while extracting??

I'm thinking of downloading winrar to see if this works however i dont know if its worth it if UltimateZip doesn't work.

Can anyone help me please ???

Also what is the best way to convert to svcd, I have TMPGEnc & /VCDeasy.

    Cheers.

  2. No one will help as this sounds WAY too much like you downloaded a movie and want us to help you in copyright infringement.

You're out of luck. If there isn't a recovery record built into the rar file, and I'm guessing that there isn't since it's been recompressed six ways to Sunday, then a crc error is unrecoverable. Assuming that the file is legit and not something you just downloaded off teh intarweb, ask the person who created it to make a par file for you or something.

Give WinRar a try but i think you are just going to have to download it again. If you are lucky you may find someone who can just supply you with the broken rars and save you getting it all again.
vcdeasy will burn it to disk for you with no problems.

look the file is probabably about 800 MB right or maybe 1.6 GB. first if its 800 MB unzip it using Win RAR, and then you might get a folder that says CD1 then go to that folder and unzip the first RAR or TAR file. if its a 1.6 GB file size, then when you extract the files you will have 2 folders one saying CD1 CD2. first go to cd 1 and then extract the first rar or tar as you will get a bin cue file, and then burn the cue file using your favorite image burner. this is already most likely SVCD, or atleast vcd. then when your done delete that folder, and then do the same for CD2 folder.

If the tar extracted, then the download isn't corrupt, so you might just need the newest version of winrar, they changed a few things, and archives made with winrar3.2 do not extract with 3.0. It sounds like this is the problem. Either that or the person that made the tar archive, put in a corrupt rar archive.
