its prob. mentioned about 10,000 tmes now ... look for green image ..

basicly you need the right codec (somehow i just bet this is a xvid)

You don't have the right Codec. That or CCE is using the wrong codec to decode ( search 4cc ).

  4. as mentioned in the posts above, you do not have the correct codec. In the tools section to the right, download:

    1. divx codec pack
    2. xvid codec
    3. dvd2svcd

dvd2svcd is an awesome automation tool which takes the human guesswork out of conversion. It will also prevent your next post regarding audio/video sync issues (which xvid's and divx films usually have).

Wow you were ALL correct, you really know what your talking
    about lol!

All i did was tweek the Four cc changer as Gazorgan mentioned.

Second thing, macleod your 100% spot on about my next question being about out of sync audio. I encoded it a little and then checked it back and yep
audio was out and the people looked stretched.

Re:dvd2svcd, can it be used for avi's because the name is misleading don't
    ya think.

Thanks for all the help guys, you do a great job

    Respect.

Yes, it will do AVI's, you just change the source from DVD (there's a button).

Dowloaded DivX and XviD have VBR (Variable bitrate audio) that CCE and TMPG don't like. There are numerous guides and threads on the subject. It's not hard to deal with, it jsut requires a few extra steps. DVD's are actually easier to work with than unkown AVI's.

Get yourself a copy of gspot for identifying what you have, and if you can render (view/hear) it.

Get the newest copy of VDUB , since it's indespensible for dealing with/editing AVI's and their audio.

You will also want BeSweet and the GUI, for doing all things audio (conversion wise). ac3fix is useful also, when you get a AC3/AC5.1 audio track that needs converting.

DVD2SVCD isvery usefull, and if you sit there and watch the first 20 minutes, it will help you a LOT in the methodology of conversion.

People stretch is Aspect Ratio issue. Don't confuse it with resolution issue. Computer pixels are square and TV pixles are rectangles. That explains the fat/thin people. Excellant informative articles on this site for it, with examples.

  7. as garzogan mentioned, dvd2svcd will do avi's VERY nicely (and the name is misleading). before I found dvdshrink, 90% of my conversions used dvd2svcd. If memory serves, I have never had a audio video sync issue with an avi/divx/xvid when I used dvd2svcd. All you will need to do is select avi as your input source and then let it do its thing. If you click advanced in the misc tab, you can then go to the frameserver tab( dont know why its there) and you can change the resolution to vcd, svcd, cvd, or dvd.

Cecilio has some guides about this and garzogan is right about using dvd2svcd to give you a heads up on the methodology on conversions. It gets mindboggling thinking about all of the disparate applications you have to do to do a conversion, but dvd2svcd really pulls it all together and gets you to think about the process logically.

If you have installed all of the correct codecs, do it with dvd2svcd and see how it looks when its done. I am willing to bet that you'll be in sync.

    Im back again, my apoligies

Ive d/loaded dvd2svcd but im grtting these errors:

Unexpected end of archive - when i click the zip.

I cancel that to reveal the dvd2svcd.exe inside, when i attempt to open it i then get this:

! C:\Documents and Settings\Desktop\dvd2svcd.zip: Either multipart or corrupt ZIP archive

    ! Cannot execute "C:\DOCUME~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\Rar$EX00.485\D2S121B3.e xe"

Ive d/lloaded it twice and tried extracting all files but same thing happens.

How do i get this too work

Thanks for your time - again

you need to have a registered version of cce as demo has no ecl support . or use cce 2.5 or one of the ecl support programs for cce ..

you should use a registered copy of CCE no mater what you do anyway .

  12. BJ_M is right. you have to have a copy of a registrered version of cce. you can also use tmpgenc with dvd2svcd too.

    It is registered

It does start to encode the audio but it crashes after around 5-10mins

The avi is ok, no bad frames etc so im not sure what the problem is.

If im not able to use CCE with dvd2svcd, how does TMPGEnc compare, quality and encode-speed wise?

    Thanks again

dvd2avcd doesnt use CCE to encode the audio , so if it crashes on the audio portion -- its some other problem. what does your log file say (exactly)
