  1. hello everybody,i'm here again to seek your advices again! i'm looking for the best burner software.i noticed that when i always edit or capture a video most especially if you capture it in avi file or a 780x480 format and view in any media player and expand your viewing to full screen, you will get a very satisfactory result but when it's about time to burn it to a vcd format, you get a disappointing results.i know for a fact that vcd is not really good but at least i could get at least ,again at least a nice and presentable movie!

for vcd, convert from avi to mpg using TMPGEnc, then use Nero to burn. That's the easiest way.
VCD is a fairly low quality format. SVCD is better and obviously DVD is far superior.
Have you tried SVCD or XVCD (non standard VCD), to get better quality?

VCD is 1/4 the resolution of DVD, so when full screen it naturally looks bad.

SVCD is superior to VCD, and on 27" or smaller TV's can be indistinguishable from DVD. xVCD can come close, particulary KVCD templates (basically a VBR VCD). Unfortunately not all players support this, so do a few tests.

I agree w/ the previous posters(especially twodogs). Have you tried svcd, or xvcd formats? If not, then I recommend you try them. Like it's been mentioned, convert w/ tmpgenc and burn w/ nero...simple as that.

When viewing a vcd on a computer screen the quality will always look poor. It will always look alot better when viewing on a television.

I usually make XVCDs and do get very good results, but they are mainly VHS backups. The main point for me is to have a fairly good watchable copy.

Up until recently I used to watch all of my VCDs and XVCDs on a 25" sony Trinitron (50mhz) I bought in 1993 and the quality was mostly ok on the VCD but quite good on the XVCDs. I recently invested in a Loewe Aventos 28" Widescreen Telly and the quality of my (x)VCDs is superb. Stating the bleedin' obvious, the better the telly the better the picture.

I am very happy with the quality that I get from my (X)VCDs and use the TMPGEnc/Nero method.
