How do I prevent the bitrate from dropping below a certain value (let's say 1000) in VBR in ffmpeg. On my DVD player I only get image freezing when the bitrate is too low. CBR isn't a solution otherwise I won't get all my video on a cd.

    thanks, jbolon

  2. does ffmpeg offer padding. I know that tmpgenc does. You basically need to have an option to pad the video so it doesnt drop below (i believe) 300 kb

Unfortunately I only have OS X. I believe that tmpgenc is Windows only.

Anyone have any idea how to 'pad' video in ffmpeg to prevent the bitrate from dropping below a certain number? Maybe it isn't possible in ffmpeg...

    thanks,
