    Ok, lately ive been using this program called DVDShrink. And i admit, thats its a prety good program, easy to use, extracts and encodes, and lets you author the dvd, all you have to do is to burn it and your done. But lately ive been trying to copy some dvd's and its been giving me an error while encoding, so i want to know, what are some other programs that can do everything in 1 program. SOmething that creates teh vob files and lets me through them into nero and let me be on my way.

    I have done it the old way, where you extract it using one program, edit using another, then reencoding it, then burining it, each using a different program, and that is just to time consuming. Ive heard of a few programs that does what i want, but im not sure how the compare.

    What im looking for is a program that extracts the fiels from the dvd, lets you choose what you want, like extra lanugages or extra dvd features, lets you choose the compression rate, encodes it for you, and sends those vob files to a folder where you just put them into nero and burn away. So if you guys know of any programs that can do this please let me know. Or if you have other ways of doing it that is just as easy, plz tell me

    Thx for all help

    What kind of error are you getting? There have been some people on the forum who have had problems with shrinks ripper. I never use it. Smart Ripper (file mode, select all files)...DVD Shrink...Burner (I use Record Now) Yes, I am using 3 programs, but no big deal. It is really not any more time consuming. DVD Shrink is great program. I have heard others rave about DVD Clone.

    Ok, I tried to redo the dvd again and this is the error i got, same as before, and the sameone that i get on a few other dvd's

    DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue this operation.

    CDvdCSS::Read failed!

    The Reason is: Data error (cydic redundancy check)
    Thats the error, and it occurs while encoding the dvd, it can read it just fine, but when it comes time to back up, i get this, and it happens at different percentages of completion on certain dvd's. It looks like its a dvd rpblem, but the dvd looks pretty good to me, it might be the my drive or something else.

    something else i shoudl add, i tried it on my other dvd drive (not a burner) and while it was trying to unpack the dvd to be edited in dvdshrink, it game that error, while trying to read the dvd, so i think its the dvd...

    the error is a little different though
    DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue this operation.

    CDvdCSS::Read failed!

    The Reason is: Unknown

  5. your could try dvd2one or dvdxcopy. look under dvd ripping under tools and you'll get a laundy list of tools. The earlier poster mentioned ripping with another app, which you might want to use. Also, make sure your dvd's are free of dust and scratches.

    you might want to try dvdshrinkiso also (not that it will help your current situation,but its another great tool to use for a one click solution and you dont have to use nero or other burning program).

    iownju: Read back to my last post. Use Smart Ripper or DVD Decrypter THEN use DVD Shrink. DVD Shrink is a great program because of its versitility. It is not one of the better rippers. Sorry ddlooping! No offense, still love shrink!

    If you are getting errors with the Shrink, your DVD ROM or writer is crap. I had errors on a friends computer. He had a very slow and old DVD-ROM drive. Bought a new Lite-On at Wally World for 42.00 and the problem went away.

    alright hothandiman ill try your idea and see how it goes.

    And as for jdizzy40, i currently have Hp DVD+RW 200i and its has worked pretty well over the months, but i still need to get a new one.

    EDIT....

    Ok, i tired hothandiman's way with smart ripper, and i was trying it on Training Day, and it was going pretty good until, for some reason, it just frove at 50% and it had like 24 bad sectors or something, i for get. So i stopped it, and went to another dvd. But when i launched smartripper and it started to read the dvd, it brought up this thing that said
    Some files are still locked !

    Try to inlick with a player.
    and it gave me the option to Abort, Retry, And ignoe. I tried the Retry, but it gave me the same thing, and i tried the ignore, and it opened up smartripper, but im not sure what that is going to means when i go to rip it. So, is this a sing of a bad drive??
