  1. Does anyone know if the bitsetter programs works with the OptoRite DD0203? I was thinking of getting a second DVD writer. My current one, Sony DRU510A, doesn't work with the bitsetter.

    Thanks

You have a dual format burner.

Just use DVD-R instead of DVD+R

    Works better anyways :P

  5. FulciLives,

Well I was interested in the bitsetting for my older DVD player that didn't play my -r discs but does play a +RW if the bit is set to tell it the disc is a DVD-Rom.

On some DVD+R/+RW only drives (not combo drives and not -R/-RW only drives) you can change the "bitsetting" so that the DVD is either viewed as a DVD+R or a DVD-ROM

The norm is DVD+R but if you change the bitsetting to DVD-ROM then apparently it makes the disc more readable in a wider range of players.

At least that is my understanding of it.

Get some DVD+RWs(rewritables). Do full formatting.
Take them to your friend who burned that DVD+RWs as DVD-ROM.
Ask him/her to change the booktype on your discs. (5 seconds each)
Go home and burn ISO images with DVD Decrypter on your Sony(or Optorite) and the ROM booktype will survive
DVD Decrypter ISO writing doesn't touch the booktype, overwrite them as many time as you want
