Well i got an error in Virtual Dub when i stopped my capture. The avi file will not play in any player and when i open it back up in Vdub it does this Reconstructing missing index block thing that takes about an hour.
What happened to my capture?

Well, some sort of boo-boo occurred.
Knowing what codec, what video source, time of recording, size of file, filter settings, striping on/off, etc, might provide some clue. The actual message you received would be especially helpful. -
MJPEG codec set to 19
captured with an AIW 7500..was recording TV
Recorded about 7 hours and its a little over a 100 gigs
That's about it, i just did a basic capture and it's always worked great in the past... -
How large is your hard drive? Were any dropped frames indicated?
WHAT WAS THE ERROR MESSAGE WHEN EXITING VDUB?????
Best guess would be some sort of HD error, quite likely with a file of that size. The message you get when loading the file is most likely "reconstructing missing index blocks" which indicates some sort of damaged file. Though I have never made one quite that size. -

7 freakin hours! What were you recording, Moses and the 10 Commandments back to back and then Ben Hur. Oh I bet it was the Kobe Bryant Trial maybe. Ranks with the OJ one. Who done it stuff. At full DVD Res I get 2 gig per hour, What you got yours set for?

Basic Capture, there ain't nothing basic about 7 hrs = 100 gig. Thats' off the charts dude. Those little guys from mars definately have taken over your system and are using it to send stuff to the mothership. I would call the Air Force and Agent Skulley tomorrow, ASAP.

Well gee wiz, what's wrong with 14gigs per hour?
Geuss he was trying for HIGH DEF quality
Perhaps try lowering something, or maybe alot of things!
I don't do MJPEG, but I do mpeg 2 and that should be like 8,000bps for one hour I think and about 4gigs! Is MJPEG anything like mpeg2?
Even raw DV I never hit 14gigs per hour!
What are you planning to do with a 7hr capture? Or was that like a timer error and not intended? I don't think your gonna fit that on a DVD!
You might as well break your captures into pieces for more easily workable files!
If your trying to capture like 7 hrs of shows while your away, working/sleeping or whatever maybe a few thoughts to help.
Can you set multiple start stop timers to get several files? Perhaps use the ATI MMC and use motion detection if your comming off a VCR and set the VCR to start stop several times. I think ATI should break the files that way. Set a file size limit in ATI for like 12 gigs. The you should have like 8 or 9 files
Or get the file sizes in order. 4gigs per hour or what ever is normal for your MJPEG type captures and have less files or smaller ones.
Are you sure your error was not caused by running out of drive space??
That did happen to me once!
