Is there any way to find out what bitrate settings were used for an already encoded video? I've used bitrate viewer but I don't think that gives me what I'm after. Maybe I am wrong there. What I'm looking for is min, avg. and max numbers on an MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 encoded video.

bitrate viewer is the one to use

Try Virtual Dub mod. Load the MPEG, and select File-->File information.

Thanks for the help. I don't see a min and max value though. I see the avg one, but that's it.

well with bitrate viewer - it will report max and avg. - for min. you just look for the lowest point on the graph and see what the value is..
